In these level 2 ukulele lessons, you will learn new strumming patterns and techniques all while playing various styles of music from the rock, pop, blues, jazz and folk genres from the 1940s to the present day.
This class will equip you with the confidence and ability you need to further your ukulele skills. In this Ukulele course, you'll be able to expand on the ukulele skills you may already possess and learn new skills that will enable you to continue with self-directed learning after the course.
Learning outcomes
By the end of these ukulele lessons, you should be able to:
- play a more extensive variety of chords
- vary your strums within a song
- alternate between picking and strumming
- read and play ukelele tabs
- transpose songs to your desired key
Course content
What will be covered in these ukulele lessons?
- A brief re-cap of basic strums
- Learn new strumming patterns (how to share a strum pattern between two chords - incorporate multiple strums within a song strums that suit 3/4 and 4/4 time)
- Adding notes on top of chords to fill out your ukulele playing
- Fingerpicking (will cover three different picking patterns, incorporating picking with strumming)
- New techniques (such as chocking)
- Damping strings (adds a percussive element to your playing - sustaining notes and chords where desired)
- Reading tabs (you will learn how to read and play individual notes of a song)
- Introduce new chords to your chord repertoire (diminished chords)
- Major and minor 7ths, 2nd and 3rd position chords
- Transposing music to different keys
