What you'll learn
Learn life drawing with our drawing short courses in Sydney!
Life drawing is a great way to improve your drawing skills. It trains you to ‘see’ and react quickly to what’s in front of you, but there is also room for you to express your personal view of the subject. In this course, you will practice drawing the nude from life in a series of quick and long poses that allow you to record quickly and efficiently what you see and longer poses that allow you to really study the subject.
You will use a range of media and techniques to explore line, form, and expression. In this series of classes, we will also draw the nude in space and set up props and change the lighting to create different moods and scenes. This way we will add to your understanding of composition, tone, and the study of light and dark.
You will also look at some artists who work with the human form and engage with it creatively using them as inspiration for your work. You will receive teaching and support from a practising artist, work with a professional life model and gain confidence in your own drawing abilities.

Pip said: Elinor is very inspiring and informative as a tutor. I've been of several courses with her a tutor now and always come away feeling more confident in my abilities. One of the problems I have is finding inspiration and I believe that the more courses I do at the college, the more I am able to come up with ideas for myself (regardless of whether I can actually pull them off!!)

Frances said: Anne is a wonderful drawing teacher - I started the class thinking there was no way I would be able to draw a human body and represent it accurately and creatively. But by the end I was so happy with my work and surprised by how far I had come. Anne definitely gives great advice and tips but also lots of freedom to be expressive and not worry too much about 'getting things right'. Also special feedback to Anne not for the wider team - there was a big range of learners in our class, with lots of different needs and learning styles and even potentially different cognitive abilities, and she dealt with those differences so calmly and intuitively and kindly. A real skill.

Jordan said: I really enjoyed be able to get out and enjoy the space and get drawing again. Not sure I came away as a brilliant artist but I sure enjoyed the process.
