What you'll learn
Learn to tell visual stories and visually document a place or community with a professional street and documentary photographer. This course includes practical techniques for candid street photography and a more intimate posed style.
Prerequisites: Photography (101) - Digital Photography for Beginners or equivalent. Must have basic camera and photography skills and be able to work their camera with confidence.
Street photography is a mirror of humanity as recorded in daily life. The street photographer recognises and captures those moments as a document of life on the streets.
This course is designed to encourage and guide students to build on their camera technical skills, to see the compositional elements that make image impact, and to understand the psychology of informally photographing people as part of the normal action on the street. Learn what is permissible to shoot, and what is restricted/prohibited by law.

Student Feedback
"The tutor was well-prepared with a clear outline for thecourse at each session. Where’d you find this guy? He’s awesome. Encourages discussion, guides insight. The course material is great. So much so, we all asked for a copy of his slides."
"This course was above what I expected for a theory class. I normally find it hard to focus on a course that is solely theory based, but I had no trouble with the great detail and delivery of knowledge from the teacher. I learnt a lot from this class and met some great people as well."
"Inspirational, thoughtful and passionate. Richard clearly has a lot of experience and passion for the subject. He was very engaging throughout the course and communicated the concepts effectively through different mediums and interactive activities. Richard was very generous with his time, and went above and beyond in leading group photography outings outside of the allotted classroom teaching times. This was greatly valued and appreciated by all of the students."
"Really inspiring and it gave me a new way of thinking when shooting. Very engaging and interesting. Richard has loads of patience and generously shares his wide knowledge of the history of photograpy."
"The classes were relevant, well prepared and well presented in a relaxed and friendly way."
